Gregg Russell, Hilton Head’s iconic troubadour and philanthropist strongly endorses Steve DeSimone’s candidacy for council. Here’s why:

“I have known and admired Steve DeSimone for most my life here on Hilton Head. Steve is a highly educated, practical and common sense kind of entrepreneur who has consistently displayed a strong commitment to his family, community and friends.

He has built a successful business career by analyzing complex problems and creating innovative workable solutions. As Long Cove residents, Lindy and I are confident that Steve will represent Ward 3 and our overall Hilton Head Island community with dignity, integrity and a positive “can do” attitude.

I hope you will join me by voting for Steve DeSimone for Town Council representing Ward 3.”

“Steve DeSimone is a long-time islander living in North Forest Beach and has watched the island grow and change, experiencing the south end issues first hand.”

“With Steve’s background and infrastructure he can professionally analyze the beach parking, traffic concerns and short-term rentals that are important issues – most significantly during our tourist season.”

“As part of the business community and owner of a home in Ward 3, I am looking for a candidate with experience and understanding of the complex problems in our Ward. “I know Steve as a go-getter. He works to get things done. He is committed to making Hilton Head Island the best it can be. We need a solution for everyone but also the unique needs of our Ward. Steve is a great candidate who will represent us well.”

I am very pleased to endorse Steve DeSimone’s candidacy for Ward 3. I have known Steve for more than 30 years. He is smart and has great family values. He gained significant experience as a councilman during some key decision-making years for our town which has proved to be very positive for Hilton Head Island. He was also a resident engineer for both Sea Pines and Wexford.

“His construction company has an excellent reputation for its residential, commercial and marine projects. I know he was quite helpful to me as I reviewed the SCDOT plans for the new bridge, and he provided valuable insights about costs and other details. I believe his skills and attributes make him uniquely qualified to be an important asset to our Town Council at this time.”

Steve is known for having forward-looking ideas. He led the way for getting Hilton Head’s power lines buried- which has kept the island from power outages during major storms.”

The balance between development and conserving the environment is critical and I believe that we need people who have the knowledge, commitment, and experience in what it takes to do both.

I believe that Steve has those qualities and can help with the important Town Council decisions that need to be made.”

Steve previously served on the Town Council from 1995 to 2002, and his skills as a professional engineer were integral to the town doing basic things like paving dirt roads, solving drainage problems, providing clean drinking water, and installing sewer service. Those practical skills will be especially important in the coming years as the plans for the new Highway 278 bridge corridor are finalized.”

To me, Steve IS Hilton Head, being literally the second person I met when I moved here in 1992. He and his family are steady, positive, and engaging ambassadors of our Island, and it’s no surprise he’s willing to commit his time and talent to helping make HHI the best it can be!

I generally steer away from politics but when it affects things in my back yard and we have a great candidate, I think it’s worth mentioning! Great news that Steve DeSimone is running for Town Council. Very excited that he is running for Ward 3 which includes our neighborhood.

I think he will be a great addition! Looking forward to learning and hearing more about his goals as our Councilman. I’ve known him, his wife and children for many years. Great family. As Forest Beach property owners and business operators, we have interacted with Steve DeSimone for many years. Steve is a visionary, a problem solver and has displayed himself as a caring member of our community, always offering a hand and usually finding solutions for issues at all levels.

Steve comes with first hand Town Council experience having previously been a staff member at the Town in the mid 80’s when he worked to implement the LMO (later adopted in 1987).

With Steve’s prior town experience coupled with his engineering background, we believe he would strengthen our Town Council in immeasurable ways.

As our Island continues to forge ahead with many quality of life projects we believe Steve DeSimone will make a positive impact with his extensive knowledge and experience.
